The NTIA Custodians brings together passionate, experienced travel professionals dedicated to maintaining the integrity, innovation, and credibility of the National Travel Industry Awards. Who Should Consider Nominating?

We are looking for experienced, committed professionals from across the travel sector. Ideal nominees will:

  • Have substantial industry experience (front-line, leadership, or operational roles) in one of the segments below:

    • Retail Travel Agency

    • Corporate & Business Travel

    • Tour Operators & Wholesalers

    • Cruise & Air / Supplier Channel

    • Mobile / Home-based Travel Advisors

  • Demonstrate a strong track record of integrity, excellence and industry engagement

  • Be passionate about raising standards and nurturing the travel community

  • Have the capacity and willingness to contribute time, insight and collaboration

  • Bring a fresh perspective, and help ensure the Awards reflect the full breadth of Australia’s travel industry

  • Where permitted be an employee, director or owner of an ATIA Accrediated business 


Time Commitment & Expectations

  • Attend a minimum of two meetings per year (in-person or virtual) to review categories and guide the process.

  • Participate in preparation, stakeholder engagement and follow-up tasks.

  • Commit to representing your segment and collaborating with fellow Custodians to deliver robust outcomes.

  • Term: Standard two-year term. 

  • You must be able to meet attendance and performance expectations consistently.


Eligibility & Selection Process

Eligibility

  • You must be actively working in one of the travel segments listed above.

  • You should be nominated by yourself or be endorsed by your organisation / network.

  • You must commit to the role’s responsibilities, integrity and confidentiality expectations.

Selection & Composition

  • The ATIA Board will appoint Custodians from the nomination pool, ensuring balanced representation across segments, experience, geography and business size.

  • The number of Custodians will be defined each cycle (typically 5-7 across the key segments).

  • Successful nominees will be publicly announced after the closing date.


What You Will Be Working On

As a Custodian, you will collaborate on:

  • Reviewing and refining award categories, eligibility, judging criteria and process frameworks.

  • Advising on how to enhance the Awards’ relevance, credibility and value for all segments of the travel industry.

  • Providing feedback and insights into improvements across nomination workflows, judging standards and event experience.

  • Supporting communication and engagement with the broader industry to ensure participation and recognition.

  • Helping build the Awards into a true benchmark for excellence across travel.


Media & Public Profile

  • Your role as Custodian will be publicly listed, including name, organisation and industry segment.

  • While you may speak publicly about your role as a Custodian, any official statements relating to the Awards must be authorised by the ATIA Board or CEO.

  • Confidentiality and proper handling of information is required given the strategic nature of the role
