Modern slavery involves different forms of exploitation where individuals are controlled or forced to work against their will, often through violence, threats, or deception.
Modern Slavery laws in Australia cover eight types of serious exploitation, where the victim cannot leave or refuse, including debt bondage, deceptive recruiting for labour or services, forced labour, forced marriage, servitude, slavery, trafficking in persons, and the worst forms of child labour.
Risks of modern slavery may be prevalent within the travel and tourism sector, particularly across our operations and supply chains, including cleaning, hospitality or transportation, as well as activities such as voluntourism or orphanage tourism.
