31 October ATIA continues international work October 31, 2023 By Amanda Rixon Media Release 0 ITB Asia kicked off on Wednesday with over 1,838 international exhibitors and with the theme “Accelerating Growth: Paving the Way for New Opportunities in Travel & Tourism” as attendees discuss topics critical to the future of MICE, corporate travel, leisure travel, and travel technology. ATIA’s presence at ITB is just part of the important international activity throughout the year which also includes onging and active participation in core group the World Travel Agents Association (WTAAA). WTAAA interacts with travel supplier partners representing all aspects of travel agency distribution from airlines, to hoteliers, to cruise lines, to GDSs and other technology providers, to government entities and more – lobbying key issues on behalf of its members. This includes interceding on IATA matters by participating in multiple related IATA forums impacting the travel agency distribution channel. WTAAA represents 11 regional market associations across the globe with regional and direct member associations in 67 countries worldwide. WTAAA members account for more than 70% of global airline sales through the travel agency channel. Part of Dean’s attendance at ITB Asia involved hosting a panel exploring the lifecycle of travel experiences.
