6 May Don’t miss – ATIA webinar and support on preventing sexual harassment at work May 6, 2025 By Amanda Rixon Media Release 0 Every business in Australia is now legally required to take action to prevent sexual harassment at work and the risks of getting it wrong are serious and costly. To help members meet these rules, and avoid breaching them, the Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) is urging all members to attend an exclusive, expert-led webinar this month. This practical session will step members through exactly what they need to do to stay compliant, saving time, reducing risk, and supporting a safe, respectful workplace. ATIA is committed to delivering real value to members through services that help them navigate change, stay on the right side of the law, and protect their teams. This webinar is part of that commitment. Under new laws, employers must take proactive steps to prevent harassment. Waiting for a complaint is no longer enough. Businesses that fail to act face penalties of up to $1.5 million, uncapped damages, and serious reputational damage. For Queensland operators, there are extra rules starting in March 2025. Businesses there will need a formal Prevention Plan or risk a further $29,000 in penalties. To support members, ATIA has partnered with workplace law specialists ABLA to deliver a tailored online workshop. Each session is limited to just 25 participants and includes: Ready-to-use policies and training materials Risk assessment and Prevention Plan templates Direct access to legal experts to answer your questions The first webinar runs at 12pm AEST on 22 May and is available at a heavily discounted ATIA member rate. We are delighted to be partnering with leading workplace law experts, Australian Business Lawyers and Advisors (ABLA) to provide an exclusive, small-group webinar where you’ll be guided through every step of the process and get the key documentation you need including policy and procedures, a risk assessment template and, for our Queensland members, the mandated Prevention Plan template.” “This webinar is a great example of how ATIA looks out for our members. We're building the tools and resources they need to support them in not only meeting their legal obligations but to thrive as trusted, professional businesses.” Related Articles ATIA continues workforce engagement with migration submission The Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) is continuing to engage with the Federal Government to support travel businesses in rebuilding their workforces, with a submission to ensure key travel occupations are eligible for skilled migration ATIA and My First Job Launch “The Travel Gap” to Expand Travel Workforce The Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) has joined forces with My First Job, the innovative youth employment platform, to launch The Travel Gap, a new initiative designed to inspire and support school leavers in discovering exciting, real-world careers within Australia’s travel industry.
