12 March Industry Notice: Exclusion of Baggage on Certain Etihad Fare Types March 12, 2025 By Amanda Rixon Industry Notice 0 TIA is aware of the concerns raised by industry members regarding the recent practice of Etihad loading airfares that do not include checked baggage on certain fare types. We understand the operational and service challenges this presents for frontline travel professionals and their customers, particularly as these are long-haul international journeys. ATIA understands that ensuring transparency and clarity in fare structures is essential to maintaining consumer confidence and streamlining the booking process. We wish to assure the industry that we are actively engaging with Etihad on this matter. We have expressed our position that long-haul international airfares should include checked baggage to support a more seamless travel experience and avoid potential dissatisfaction or confusion at the point of travel. As the Industry Peak Body, we will continue to advocate for policies that enhance both industry efficiency and consumer satisfaction and will provide updates as appropriate.
